The Synergy Bank division of New York Community Bank (NYCB) traces its roots to the early 1950s, when it was founded as a federal credit union by a group of employees from one of New Jersey’s major pharmaceutical firms. In 1998, the credit union’s members voted to convert to a savings institution. With this change, Synergy began to expand its branch network throughout central New Jersey, and to offer its products and services to the broader community under a new name: Synergy Bank.
